At Kalahari Sunset we offer you the opportunity to experience a small part in the life of a Nharo Bushman family life. This experience will give you an insight into how this race of people used to live through hunting and gathering. They are now depending on showing other people how they lived and live for there livelihood.

The world around them has changed, the Bushman, still live a way of life we have long forgotten. They have changed their way of life and adapted to the new world around them as they have always done.

We offer you the unique opportunity to participate and experience above anything else a way of life long since forgotten, in a way that helps the Bushman to a brighter future.

Kalahari Sunset is able to offer you three types of experience:

2 day Survival experience is an insight into how bushman survived on a day to day basis in a semi-arid desert with no surface water. This experience varies as each season offers different roots, vegetables and general fauna. Often of particular interest to vegetarian and nutritionists.

2 day Healer experience is a spiritual break allowing you to get in touch with your surroundings in a very peaceful manner - however singing and dancing can continue into the early hours of the morning. This experience is ultimately based around the culture and lifestyle of the Bushman and offers a small insight into their culture. The Shaman will not perform unless is there genuine illness - the ritual's are taken very seriously.

The Complete experience is a 4 day amalgamation of the Survival and Healer experience. This encompasses the whole life of the family/clan and is very much an active experience as well as a spiritual one. Tailor made days can be arranged to fit in with your time in Africa. Tour Operators/Mobile Safaris

Tour Operators can use (Buitsivango) Khurrthum Khwe traditional Bushman camp as a 3 or 6 day break. Activities are either Survival experience or Healer experience. (Enquire for more details of pricing)

All necessary cooking and camping equipment must be provided by Mobile Safari Operators. Payment in full, will be due 6 weeks prior to departure from the clients home country.

Camping Information

Overnight camping on a separate campground, with no frills is available at a cost of P75 (Botswana Pula) per person per night, maximum stay two nights. Hot showers and fire provided.  Bushwalks are available on request
