Come walk with the Bushmen of the Giant Tortoise Clan
Enjoy our traditional veldt food, gathered as it has been in this region for over 3000 years.
Ada Hardbattle and her brother John originally started Kalahari Sunset together over 15 years ago in an attempt at halting the decay of the Bushmen culture in Ghanzi district.
They decided to concentrate on the Nharo culture. The Nharo people have always been in Ghanzi district and in fact they are the ones who gave Ghanzi its name, there is a Big Ghanzi and a Small Ghanzi, they are two pans located on a local farm.
But much more importantly it is part of their own upbringing, having a foot firmly in the European culture of their father but also the hunter-gatherer lifestyle from their mother's side, the Giant Tortoise Clan.
The Nharo have always been a "crossroads culture" bridging the gap between the Nama in Namibia and the /Kung and //ana Khwe to the east. They also have close ties to the Macaucau to the north.
